Landmarks Commission and DRAC meeting calendar
Applicants can join the meeting virtually. A link is provided to scheduled applicants before each meeting.
Projects are reviewed using the Secretary of Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation and receive a Certificate of Appropriateness when approved and conditions are met (if any). Reach out to the Landmarks Commission office to request more information or get scheduled for an upcoming design review advisory committee (DRAC) meeting before your project goes to the Landmarks Commission.
Region Description
The Historic Ohio City Region follows the Cuyahoga River on its eastern boundary and generally includes the area north of Train Avenue and east of West 53rd Street to where the Ohio City Historic District's western boundary meets with the Gordon Square and Franklin-West Clinton Historic Districts.

Meeting Format
Design review advisory committee (DRAC) meetings are virtual only at this time. They are held on the WebEx platform and links to the meeting are provided to applicants via email during the week before the a scheduled meeting. Members of the public can observe a DRAC meeting by reaching out to the Landmarks Commission office before a scheduled meeting.
Public Comments
Any and all community members may provide their written comments, thoughts or questions regarding agenda items. Community members may also telephone their comments or questions to the Landmarks office. All comments, thoughts or questions must be submitted to the Landmarks office, by email, phone message, or mail no later than 48 hours before the start of the meeting at which an agenda item is scheduled.
Public comment or submissions made after the deadline will not be heard by the DRAC. Public comment will be collected by Landmarks staff and sent to the committee members for review prior to the scheduled meeting. Staff will summarize the received comments after the agenda item is presented. The applicant of the project is under no obligation to answer any community questions.
Public comment may be submitted for consideration by the Cleveland Landmarks Commission through the same process and 48-hour submission deadlines utilized by the DRACs. There is no open public comment period in our DRAC meetings.

Meetings occur when there are projects scheduled.
Projects generally are reviewed by a DRAC and receive a recommendation for the issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness before they are scheduled for a Landmarks Commission agenda.
Meeting materials can be found at the link provided on each meeting agenda. Questions about a scheduled project can be directed to the Landmarks Commission office.
Resources and Forms
Project review to receive a Certificate of Appropriateness begins with a Project Record applied for with the Department of Building and Housing. Applicants can also email the Landmarks Commission office at landmarks@clevelandohio.gov with a scope of work to begin the conversation on potential project review steps and what should be provided for a complete review.
Larger projects may involve an initial meeting with Landmarks Staff and the applicant. Pre-review meetings or initial consultations should be scheduled with Landmarks Staff to review the project on a conceptual level. Some projects may also benefit from public engagement facilitated by the local CDC.
Depending on the scope of the project, a site visit with Landmarks Staff will be required before the project is presented to the DRAC. A site visit with Landmarks Staff is a requirement for projects involving demolition of a building in a designated historic district or Cleveland landmark.
Not every exterior change to a building will go through the Landmarks Commission design review process. The level of review required by the Landmarks Commission office will depend on the scope of work. Each project is reviewed on a case-by-case basis using the Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation as outlined in Chapter 161.
