The City of Cleveland owns and operates 160 parks, 20 recreation centers, Camp George Forbes, Cudell Fine Arts Center, Halloran Skating Rink, Highland Park Golf Course, and Rockefeller Park Greenhouse.
Each year, through the Mayor's Office of Capital Projects (MOCAP), the City invests in improving our parks and recreation facilities to better serve residents and visitors of all ages. Recently Completed Projects
So far, in 2026 MOCAP has completed (or is wrapping up) many projects across the city, including:
- Ambler Trail: Trail improvements
- Ansel Road Seating Area: Sidewalk repair, site furnishings, plazas, and crosswalk enhancement.
- Archmere Park: New pickleball courts, disc golf goals, and fencing repairs
- Canal Basin Park: New public restrooms (Portland Loos)
- Collinwood Athletic Complex: New sound system
- Frederick Douglass Rec Center Park: New site furnishings and tree plantings
- Grant Park:New playground
- Impett Park: Pavilion renovation
- Kerruish Park: New swing benches
- League Park: Dugout and entrance renovations
In 2025, MOCAP completed 10 parks and recreation improvement projects, including four comprehensive park renovations and two widescale recreation center renovations.
- Artha Woods Park: Site improvements, including new splash pad, exercise equipment, and sidewalk layout.
- Calgary Park: Full park renovation with playground, walking loop, seating, picnic areas, parallel parking spaces, and tree plantings.
- Central Park: Full park renovation and expansion with playground, swings, half basketball court, splash pad, exercise equipment, game tables, and multi-purpose field.
- Central Recreation Center: Full interior renovation and minor addition.
- Clark Recreation Center: Full renovation and minor addition.
- Neff Park: Full park renovation with playground, multi-purpose field, walking loop, seating, tree plantings, diamond field improvements, and parking lot improvements.
- Rockefeller Park: Tennis courts renovation, new parking lot, new educational plaza, and new 1,200-foot paved multiuse trail along the recently completed restoration of the Doan Brook.
- Sterling Recreation Center: Full renovation and minor addition.
- Storer Park: Full park renovation with walking path, pavilion, and playground.
- U.S. Soccer Foundation Funded Mini-Pitch Soccer Fields: Installed at Lonnie Burten Park and Halloran Park.
In 2024, MOCAP completed a record of 27 parks and recreation improvement projects, made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act, which funded 23 of the 27 projects.

In 2023, MOCAP completed 6 parks and recreation improvement projects, including three largescale park renovations at Clark Field, Heritage Park, and Mercedes Cotner Park.

- New dock and boardwalk
- Pond restoration
- Clark Field: Full park renovation (basketball courts, diamond fields, dog park, playground, and tennis courts)
- Heritage Park: Full park renovation with new boardwalk, shelter, and seating areas
- League Park: New field lighting and scoreboard
- Mercedes Cotner Park: Full park renovation (BMX pump track, basketball court, fitness stations, playground, shelter, and splash pad)
In 2022, MOCAP completed 12 parks and recreation improvement projects, including the full renovation of E.J. Kovacic Recreation Center, a full renovation and expansion of Orr Park, and Towpath trailhead improvements at Canal Basin Park.
