Bridge Avenue
We’re piloting neighborhood traffic circles on Bridge Avenue between West 25th Street and West 65th Street starting in August 2026.
What to Expect
- August 24, 2026: Installation begins
- Monday 8/24 and Tuesday 8/25: Temporary daytime parking restrictions while
parking lanes and clear corners are striped. - Throughout the week of August 24-28: A block in each direction of intersections being constructed will be closed to through traffic while crews install traffic circles and remove traffic signals. Local traffic will maintain access.
- September 2026: Crews install speed tables and new crosswalks
- 2027: Quantitative evaluation
Planned Changes
This project will include:
- Neighborhood Traffic Circles will replace low-volume traffic signals to slow vehicle speeds and reduce crashes. The existing traffic signals will be removed.
- Clear Corners built with paint and flexible posts near corners will keep intersections clear, improving sight lines for drivers and pedestrians.
- Speed tables are planned for Bridge Avenue between W 65th and W 58th Street and for W 52nd Street north and south of Bridge Avenue.
- New crosswalks will be installed at W 50th and W 47th Streets.
We will use quick build materials including paint, signage, and rubber curbing for immediate impact. Then, we will evaluate the pilot for potential permanent concrete installation.
Updates
In August, we distributed flyers along the project area to share information with constituents about the design and construction timeline, including roadway access during construction.
On May 19, 2026 we introduced the project to neighbors at the Ohio City Incorporated Community Meeting. We held a project specific public meeting on June 30, 2026. At both meetings we shared presentations about the project and informational flyers.
