Biography

Clarence Mack grew up on the west side of Cleveland. He never attended architectural school. His father and grandfather were builders. He served as his own contractor and lived in each of the houses that he designed. His homes were built in the Cleveland suburbs of Lakewood, Shaker Heights, and Rocky River. He designed the Charles King Residence, better known as Kingwood, in Mansfield. He often copied historical styles including the Georgian Revival (Adamesque). He furnished each house with period furnishings. He left Cleveland in 1935 for Palm Beach, Florida. His architectural drawings are maintained by the Cleveland Public Library George White Collection.
