School Building Reuse

Your Voice Shapes What Comes Next

Next school year, Cleveland Metropolitan School District will close 18 school facilities. The City of Cleveland is gathering ideas and feedback to share with the Board of Education on how these buildings could be reimagined to support neighborhood needs and opportunities.

We want to hear from the community about priorities, concerns, and ideas for the future of these spaces.

Building Reuse: Community Survey

The City of Cleveland and CMSD are carefully evaluating future uses for several school sites across the city. These decisions will have a lasting impact — and community input is essential.

Use the survey to share ideas, ask questions, or raise concerns. Your feedback will help guide a thoughtful, community-centered vision for what comes next.

Thank you for lending your voice and helping shape the future of Cleveland’s neighborhoods.

Building Reuse: Request for Qualifications (RFQ)

The City of Cleveland and Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) are seeking experienced and emerging development teams to help transform 12 former school properties into new community assets. As part of CMSD’s Building Brighter Futures plan, these schools will close at the end of the 2025–2026 academic year, creating opportunities for adaptive reuse and redevelopment that support neighborhood needs and long-term community growth.

The City’s Request for Qualifications (RFQ) invites developers to submit ideas that preserve community value, create new opportunities, and strengthen Cleveland neighborhoods. Residents, community organizations, and potential partners are encouraged to stay informed and engage in the process as redevelopment plans take shape.

A virtual information session will be held on June 17, 2026, and site visits are scheduled throughout June. The City is committed to ensuring these former school sites continue serving families and neighborhoods for generations to come.
