The Transformative Arts Fund embodies Cleveland’s unwavering belief in the power of art to activate the soul of the city and uplift its people. More than two years in planning and implementation, this initiative reflects a deep commitment to artist autonomy, community collaboration, and bold creative vision.
At its heart, this Fund is about listening to artists — creating opportunities for them to express their ideas freely, shape shared spaces and lead creative placemaking efforts in communities across Cleveland. While seven lead artists were awarded major grants, more than 100 artists have been paid through this Fund, sparking new activity for artist-owned businesses and demonstrating the true, multiplying impact of these public dollars.
With Mayor Bibb and City Council’s leadership and investment, the Transformative Arts Fund underscores the city’s dedication to its residents and their boundless creative potential. Across Cleveland’s neighborhoods, these artist-led projects are not simply public artworks — they are transformative forces, designed to spark connection, inspire dialogue, and cultivate a more inclusive, vibrant city.
This is art at its most powerful: thoughtful, impactful, and deeply rooted in community. We look forward to witnessing and supporting the lasting reverberations these projects will create for years to come.
Sincerely,
Rhonda K. Brown
