Office of Mental Health and Addiction Recovery (OMHAR)

OMHAR is part of the Health Equity and Social Justice Division of the Cleveland Department of Public Health. OMHAR offers two forms of support to the community:

  • Mental Health Resource Support
  • Overdose Prevention

Through the Cuyahoga County Overdose Data to Action, OMHAR works to prevent overdose by providing:

  • Linkage to services through screen, care, act events
  • Harm reduction through layperson naloxone trainings
  • Stigma reduction through community reinforcement and family training.

  • Up to $250,000 available per project
  • Applicants must align with 1 or more domains

  • Community-Based Organizations
  • Funding for this project must support Cleveland residents only
  • Services for specialized populations: Veterans, LGBTQ+, Senior Citizens

Screen, Care, Act

  • Screenings for Tobacco, Drugs and Alcohol
  • Harm Reduction Supply Kits
  • Health Information and Recovery Resources
  • Drug Overdose Prevention Education

Lay Person Naloxone Training

  • Recognize signs of an opioid overdose
  • Learn to administer the opioid reversal drug naloxone
  • Understand the role of harm reduction in the opioid public health crisis
  • Explore overdose prevention tips for people in active addiction
 

Supporting and Empowering Families

  • 12 weekly family sessions
  • Learn how to help family and friends living with addiction
  • Practice self-care and stress reduction skills
  • Prevention programming for youth
