Cleveland City Hall Closed, NRRC Operations Extended in Response to Air Quality Alert

CLEVELAND — July 16, 2026 — Due to ongoing air quality concerns across the region, out of an abundance of caution to protect the health and safety of employees and visitors, Cleveland City Hall and the Public Auditorium will remain closed to the public on July 17, 2026.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is extending operating hours on Friday, July 17, at several Neighborhood Resource and Recreation Centers (NRRCs). These extended hours will help ensure Cleveland residents have access to cooling, community resources, and a place to seek relief from potentially dangerous environmental conditions.

NRRC locations available from 11:30 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.: 

  • Zelma George: 3155 Martin L. King Blvd.  
  • Collinwood: 16300 Lakeshore Blvd.   
  • Gunning: 16700 Puritas Ave.   
  • Kovacic: 6250 St. Clair Ave.   
  • Frederick Douglass: 15401 Miles Ave.  
  • Michael Zone: 6301 Lorain Ave.

NRRC locations available from 11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.:

  • Lonnie Burten: 2511 East 46th Street 
  • Clark: 5706 Clark Ave. 
  • Cory: 10510 Drexel Ave. 
  • Cudell: 1910 West Blvd. 
  • Estabrook: 4125 Fulton Rd. 
  • Fairfax: 2335 East 82nd Street   
  • Hamilton: 13200 Kinsman Ave.
  • Glenville: 680 E. 113th Street
  • Thurgood Marshall: 8611 Hough Ave.
  • Sterling: 1380 East 32nd Street
  • Earle B. Turner: 11300 Miles Ave.

Additional Information:

  • Breakfast meals are available from 10:00 – 10:30 a.m. at Zelma George NRRC, Lonnie Burten NRRC, Halloran NRRC, Glenville NRRC, Frederick Douglass NRRC, Estabrook NRRC, Michael Zone NRRC, and Kovacic NRRC.
  • All recreation centers will serve lunch meals to youth 18 and under from 12:00 – 2:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Please contact your local NRRC for the serving times.
  • Playground programs and youth outdoor sports are cancelled. 
  • Outdoor pools will be closed. However, available indoor pools will be open from 12:00 – 7:00 p.m.
  • The City will continue to closely monitor air quality conditions and will communicate any necessary operational updates in a timely manner.
