City of Cleveland Announces Parking Restrictions for Downtown Events this Weekend

CLEVELAND – A weekend packed with music, community celebrations, and family fun is expected to draw thousands of visitors to downtown Cleveland. City officials announced parking restrictions to help ensure safe travel throughout the weekend.

The annual MGK Day celebration begins on Friday, August 7th, with the Red Bull Best Trick Contest at Crooked River Skatepark, followed by a festival of performances, local vendors, and attractions on Saturday, August 8th, at North Coast Yard.

On Saturday, August 8th, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., the City of Cleveland and the Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) will host the 2026 Cleveland Back to School Festival at Cleveland Public Auditorium. Nearly 150 schools, healthcare providers, and community partners will join us as we celebrate our scholars and ensure each family begins the school year prepared, connected, and inspired. This event is free and open to all families in Cleveland. Free parking for this event will be available at Willard Parking Garage.

Wrapping up the weekend of events, The Foo Fighters will bring the Take Cover Tour to Huntington Bank Field on Monday, August 10th. Gates open at Huntington Bank Field at 4:00 p.m. and the event begins at 5:30 p.m.

The City of Cleveland announced parking restrictions as large crowds are expected for these events. This is subject to change based on real-time information as vehicular and pedestrian traffic evolves. All closure times depend on traffic volume and can be adjusted as needed by the Cleveland Division of Police Bureau of Traffic. All decisions are made with public safety at top of mind. As always, exercise caution, and if you see something, please say something. For emergencies, call 911. The Cleveland Police non-emergency number is (216) 621-1234.

Parking restrictions will be in effect from 6 p.m. through midnight on Friday, August 7th, and 12 p.m. through midnight on Saturday, August 8th and Monday, August 10th.
