Stephanie Howse-Jones is a compassionate caregiver, dedicated mentor, and committed public servant, proudly serving as Ward 7 Councilwoman in Cleveland City Council. With over three decades of experience in civic engagement, Stephanie's journey began as a campaign street team member, supporting her mother, the Honorable Annie L. Key. Over the years, she has developed a deep understanding of the intricate linkages between government policies and the social, economic, and physical landscapes that created the United State of America’s system of oppression and generational poverty. Her understanding of America’s system inspires her to lead by the words of Angela Y. Davis: “I am no longer accepting the things I cannot change. I am changing the things I cannot accept.”
Prior to her role in Cleveland City Council, Stephanie served as an Ohio State Representative, leveraging her background as an educator, consultant, and engineer to enact positive change. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil (Environmental) Engineering from Florida A&M University and a Master of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Cleveland State University.
Today, Stephanie amplifies her voice to champion racial and environmental justice, advocate for closing the gender pay gap, and cultivate inclusive spaces where every community member feels heard and valued. Beyond her civic duties, Stephanie finds joy in exploring new recipes, traveling, indulging in Netflix binges, unleashing her inner rock star through karaoke, and remaining a steadfast Cleveland Browns fan through thick and thin.
