Anastasia Sakairoun Biography

Anastasia Sakairoun J.D. is a Cleveland native who was raised in the Glenville-Collinwood area. As a youth she was extremely active in her church and worked part-time as a lifeguard.  She attended high school at Saint Martin de Porres High School and earned her B.A. in Political Science from Bowling Green State University. During her time in undergrad, she served on countless organizations including the Senator at Large for the Undergraduate Student Government, President of the Voices at BGSU and treasurer for the NAACP BGSU Chapter.  She was also a Ronald E. McNair Scholar and conducted research on African American Voting Behaviors in presidential elections cycles. Anastasia Sakairoun moved to New York City and worked as a College Guidance Counselor at Cristo Rey Brooklyn High School. She returned to Cleveland in 2020 and worked as the Policy Strategist for the Freedom BLOC. In the fall of 2021, she started law school and is a recent graduate of Cleveland State University College of Law. 

During Her time as a law student, Anastasia Sakairoun was a Dean’s Leadership Fellow. has worked very hard in and outside of the law school. She interned for the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Plea- Juvenile Division during her 1L summer. She externed for the Ohio Supreme Court: Dispute and Resolution Section as a 2L.  She served as the Regional Director of Community Service for the Midwest Region of the National Black Law Student Association. She also serves on the Democratic Central Committee for Cuyahoga County for her voting precinct in 12-L She also worked as interim Council Aid for the Ward 12 for Cleveland City Councilwoman Rebecca Maurer. She interned for the Committee on Small Business for the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington D.C.  under Ranking Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez from Brooklyn, New York.  She was also a Judicial Extern at the Northern District of Ohio for Federal Judge J. Phil Calabrese. She is also an associate on the Global Business Law Review. As a recent alumnus of CSU Law, she won the Dean’s Learn Law Live Justice Award.
