Cleveland Police Officer Will Not Be Charged Criminally

CLEVELAND – On January 13, 2018, Cleveland Division of Police Sergeant Dean Graziolli was involved in a shooting while working secondary employment at the Corner Alley on Euclid Avenue and Ford Drive in University Circle, which resulted in the death of Mr. Thomas Yatsko. The shooting was investigated by the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office appointed the Franklin County Prosecutor’s Office to act as Special Prosecutor in this case. After reviewing the case, the Franklin County Prosecutor's Office presented the case to a Cuyahoga County Grand Jury, which declined to return criminal charges against Sergeant Dean Graziolli.  

Sergeant Dean Graziolli was placed on administrative restricted duty after the shooting and remains on administrative restricted duty.  The Cleveland Division of Police will now conduct an internal administrative review of the incident.
