Scholarship Recipients
The City of Cleveland recognized recipients of the 2016 Mayor Frank G. Jackson, the City of Cleveland Black History Month and the Gloria Pointer Foundation scholarships. Students and their parents were welcomed to Cleveland City Hall and were congratulated by Mayor Frank G. Jackson; City of Cleveland Chief of Education, Monyka Price; the Director of Community Relations, Blaine Griffin; the Cleveland Black History Month Scholars Committee Members, Manager Community Relations, Department of Port Control, Jacqueline Muhammad and Assistant to the Director of Community, Laveta Parker; and the Gloria Pointer Foundation Founder, Yvonne Pointer; and representatives from the College Now Greater Cleveland.
Along with a special luncheon in the Mayor’s Red Room and words of encouragement, the students had an opportunity to meet and take photos with Mayor Jackson, discuss their future goals, receive certificates of recognition for participating in the program and also meet Cleveland’s scholarship program representatives.
