Public Works Commissioner

Mayor Frank G. Jackson was joined by the City of Cleveland Chief of Operations Darnell Brown to administer the oath of office to Paul Alcantar for the Department Public Works. Mayor Jackson swore Mr. Alcantar as the City of Cleveland’s newest Commissioner for the Division of Waste Collection and Disposables for the Department Public Works.

Mr. Alcantar is a 27 year Municipal Waste Professional who has managed all aspects of the waste lifecycle including residential and commercial collection, recycling, composting transfer stations and landfill management. He implemented new waste rules to support automated waste collection for the municipality of Anchorage, Alaska where he most recently served as Director for Solid Waste Services. Commissioner Alcantar obtained a Master Composter Designation from the University of Maryland and is a member of the Solid Waste Association of North America, the American Public Works Association and the Solid Waste Managers Association.
