Cleveland Police Officer Resigns upon Being Found Guilty of Misdemeanor Charges

Former Patrol Officer Elvin Sanchez Convicted of Sexual Imposition, Attempted Importuning and Possession of Criminal Tools

CLEVELAND – Director of Public Safety, Michael McGrath and Cleveland Police Chief Calvin D. Williams announce that Patrol Officer Elvin Sanchez resigned employment with the City of Cleveland, Division of Police effective Monday, January 4, 2016.

Elvin Sanchez was convicted of three counts Sexual Imposition, one count Attempted Importuning and one count Possession of Criminal tools in the Cuyahoga County Court of Common Pleas. Sanchez was relieved from duty and suspended without pay upon being indicted on charges of Gross Sexual Imposition, Sexual Imposition, Importuning and Possession of Criminal Tools on October 1, 2015.

Elvin Sanchez provided a notice of resignation to the Director of Public Safety immediately following the adjudication of and sentencing in the case. His resignation shall take effect immediately.
