Rain Barrel Workshop

As part of Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s Sustainable Cleveland 2019 initiative, 2015 is the Year of Clean Water. Cleveland’s freshwater resources are important to the economy, quality of life and the natural environment.

In an effort to help the lake become squeaky clean, students participating in Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s 10th Annual Youth Summer Employment program along with their supervisor and program mentors, Kristin Hall and Jill Collins, hosted a Cleveland City Hall Rain Barrel Workshop for City employees. Seven students gave presentations on the purposes and benefits of rain barrels and demonstrated how to safely assemble and install a rain barrel for Cleveland homeowners. Several City of Cleveland employees attended to learn about the importance water conservation and stormwater management and those who attended got to take a rain barrel home with them.
