Supreme Court Decision
In a 5-4 decision, the United States Supreme Court legalized same sex marriage nationwide by overturning gay marriage bans in Ohio and other states. The Supreme Court released its ruling that states are required to license a marriage between two people of the same sex.
Mayor Frank G. Jackson praised the U.S. Supreme Court for making a key decision regarding marriage equality. On the steps of Cleveland City Hall, U. S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) was joined by Cleveland City Councilman members, other local officials and community leaders to celebrate this historical ruling, giving same-sex couples the right to marry in all 50 states
