Swearing-In of Chief of Sustainability

On Jan. 22, Dr. Jason A. Wood was sworn in as the new City of Cleveland Chief of Sustainability. Mayor Frank G. Jackson administered the Oath of Office to Dr. Wood in Cleveland City Hall’s Red Room in front of a host of family, friends, and colleagues.
Dr. Wood comes into this position after serving as Chief of Public Affairs for the Department of Public Utilities where he was responsible for community engagement, legislation, communications, and government affairs for Cleveland Water, Cleveland Public Power, and Cleveland Water Pollution Control. He also provided direct policy support to all areas of the department.
Prior to his role as Chief of Public Affairs, Dr. Wood worked on Cleveland Water’s Customer Service Turnaround Project as the Deputy Project Manager. He also played a vital role in helping Cleveland Water implement the Automated Meter Reading Project. Previously, he worked in two City administrations, including serving as Special Assistant for Policy and Research for the Jackson administration. Dr. Wood currently serves on the U.S. Water Alliance’s Water Equity Taskforce and One Water Council, as well as on the Board of the Cleveland 2030 District. He holds a PhD in Political Science from the University of Cincinnati, a Master of Applied Politics from the University of Akron, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from Kent State University.
