Representative Marcy Kaptur
US Rep. Marcy Kaptur was honored at Cleveland City Council’s meeting for being the longest serving woman in the House of Representatives.
Mayor Frank G. Jackson and members of Cleveland City Council thanked her for her service at the meeting. City Council unanimously adopted a resolution recognizing her achievement.
First elected in 1982, Congresswoman Kaptur has served 18 terms under six presidents. A daughter of a Polish-American working-class family in Toledo, Marcy Kaptur became the first member of her family to graduate from college, earing degrees from the University of Wisconsin and the University of Michigan.
