Fire only responds with EMS when it is a serious call or when EMS response time may be delayed. EMS is dispatched to all fires.

The bureau has a fire prevention bureau officer who works directly with the Department of Building and Housing to review building construction/alteration plans. The officer reviews the certificate of occupancy application, areas of fire protection, means of egress and other items under the fire code.

According to City Ordinance 451.03 Statutory Prohibited Standing or Parking Places:
"No person shall stand or park a vehicle, except when necessary to avoid conflict with other traffic or to comply with the provisions of this Traffic Code, or while obeying the directions of a police officer or a traffic control device, in any of the following places:
(d) Within ten feet of a fire hydrant;
(j) Within twenty feet of a driveway entrance to any fire station and, on the side of the street opposite the entrance to any fire station, within seventy-five feet of the entrance when it is properly posted with signs"

Stickers may not be safe because they give information to intruders, might not be removed when a new tenant moves in, it won't guarantee where residents may actually be when a fire starts, and can give a false sense of security. The best means of protection are a smoke detector and an escape plan.
