Indoor pools and recreation centers may be rented for private events (for-profit events are excluded). Rentals may not interfere with normal center operations. The fee is $84/hour/staff person before and after regular operational hours. Permit application requests must be completed at the recreation center and approval must be obtained at least two weeks prior to the event.

The Division of Recreation develops, promotes and implements a wide variety of organized sports activities for residents of all ages. Residents may register for leagues at any recreation center free of charge.
Camp Forbes Programs for Children and Youth

Winter and Spring: The Holistic Life Program allows teachers from the Cleveland Metropolitan School District to bring their 4th, 5th or 6th grade students to Camp Forbes for a day of outdoor recreational activities. The focus is on team building and alternative communication which teaches youth how to respect one another and how to create and apply ways in which to communicate.
Summer: Cleveland children between the ages of 9 and 13 can enjoy a free week of camp. Camping seasons lasts for 8 weeks and serves approximately 800 youth. Camp Forbes is situated on approximately 33 acres of land and has 10 cabins, a dining hall, administrative building, an outdoor pool and a pond. Activities include boating, arts & crafts, nature activities, swimming, tent camping, hiking, flag-raising, and fishing. Proof of residency (utility bill, magazine subscription, or mortgage or lease agreement), child's birth certificate, and a copy of the immunization record are required.

Learn to Swim Classes
Indoor Pools: The Division of Recreation operates 19 indoor pools for year-round swimming. Programs such as learn to swim, aquacise, water polo, water basketball and swim teams are available to Cleveland residents at no cost.
Outdoor Pools: From the second week of June through the second week of August, the Division of Recreation operates 22 outdoor community pools. Pools are open Wednesdays to Sundays from noon to 7:30 pm.
Participants must be at least 8 years old and 4 feet tall to swim. Adults must be with children not meeting these requirements at a ratio of 2:1. All lifeguards are American Red Cross certified, and a ratio of one lifeguard per every 40 swimmers is maintained.

Boys and girls ages 9 to 17 can learn how to play golf at the local public courses. Participants sign up at their local recreation center. Transportation is provided from the centers to the public golf courses. There is no fee for this activity which is open to beginner and intermediate players.
