  1. Why can't I use online reporting for all crimes?

    Some crimes may require evidence collection, photography, or other investigative procedures which require an officer to respond to the scene of the crime.

  2. What do I do if online reporting is not right for me?

    If your incident is an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediatly. If it is not an emergency, call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234.

  3. Can I file a report online if the incident happened in another county or city?

    No, if a crime did not take place in Cleveland, Ohio, please call the Law Enforcement Agency that serves the city where the incident occurred.

  4. What if this incident is a traffic crash? 

    If this incident is, or is related to, a traffic crash, please call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234.

  5. What is a "known suspect" or "suspect vehicle"?

    A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime. To have a "suspect vehicle" means you have a license plate number of the vehicle.

  6. What if a firearm, another type of weapon, or drugs were involved?

    If a firearm, another type of weapon, or drugs were involved, then the incident requires a police officer to personally gather the information. Please call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234 to have a police officer dispatched to you.
