- Why can't I use online reporting for all crimes?
Some crimes may require evidence collection, photography, or other investigative procedures which require an officer to respond to the scene of the crime.
- What do I do if online reporting is not right for me?
If your incident is an emergency, call 9-1-1 immediatly. If it is not an emergency, call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234.

Can I file a report online if the incident happened in another county or city?
No, if a crime did not take place in Cleveland, Ohio, please call the Law Enforcement Agency that serves the city where the incident occurred.
- What if this incident is a traffic crash?
If this incident is, or is related to, a traffic crash, please call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234.
- What is a "known suspect" or "suspect vehicle"?
A known suspect is when you or someone else knows the person or where to find the person who committed the crime. To have a "suspect vehicle" means you have a license plate number of the vehicle.
- What if a firearm, another type of weapon, or drugs were involved?
If a firearm, another type of weapon, or drugs were involved, then the incident requires a police officer to personally gather the information. Please call the Cleveland Division of Police Communications Center at 216.621.1234 to have a police officer dispatched to you.
