Director of Communications and Media Relations

Latoya Hunter Hayes is the Director of Communications and Media Relations for the City of Cleveland. She is an accomplished public relations professional and social media strategist with experience providing high-level planning and execution of campaigns.

In her position at the City of Cleveland, she works under the Chief of Communications to manage internal and external outreach efforts for Mayor Frank G. Jackson’s administration. Hunter Hayes specializes in various areas of communication, including public relations, social media campaigns, online influencer outreach, social media measurement, media relations, crisis communications, employee communications and event planning.

Prior to joining the City of Cleveland, Hunter Hayes managed brands across multiple industries with a focus on food/hospitality, tourism, government, retail, real estate, and interior design. Brands ranged from small start-ups to recognized national names. She has consistently secured placements in multiple local and national publications, including the New York Times, USA Today, The Steve Harvey Show, CNN, HLN, Forbes Magazine, Crain’s Cleveland, Plain Dealer and more.

A native of Jamaica, Hunter Hayes has lived in Cleveland for more than 25 years. She holds a bachelor’s degree in public relations from Bowling Green State University, and is a former participant in New York University’s Summer Institute in Public Relations. She is a member of several organizations including the
Public Relations Society of America and Les Dames D ‘Escoffier International.
