City of Cleveland, Joint Veterans Council of Cuyahoga County, to hold celebration, parade and resource fair on Friday, Nov. 11

Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022 — Cleveland — In honor of Veterans Day and in recognition of all those who have served, the City of Cleveland and Cleveland City Council are teaming up with the Joint Veterans Council of Cuyahoga County (JVCOCC) for the 2022 Veterans Day Celebration and Parade.  
 
City Hall opens to veterans and their guests for coffee and light refreshments on Friday, Nov. 11 at 10 a.m. 
 
The annual Veterans Day Celebration ceremony begins at 11 a.m. with remarks from Mayor Justin M. Bibb, Cleveland’s Chief Director of Public Safety Karrie D. Howard, Jim Riley of the JVCOCC, U.S. Army veteran and CEO and co-founder of Ibility LLC, Danielle Krakora, and keynote speaker U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Douglas K.N. Fullerton.  
 
The ceremony will also include the presentation of the Judge Felix T. Matia Outstanding Service Award for service to veterans and the community, the Martin L. Flask Legacy Award honoring a commitment to veterans and public service, and veteran student awards.   
 
The ceremony will be followed by the 2022 Veterans Day Parade, featuring 52 participating organizations from the veteran community, police, fire, EMS, supporting organizations, local sports teams, City of Cleveland departments and the Cleveland Mounted Police. 
 
The parade steps off from City Hall at 12:30 p.m. and will travel along Lakeside Avenue and down East 9th Street and then head west along Superior Avenue to Public Square. The parade will return to City Hall via Ontario and Lakeside avenues and conclude at 1:30 p.m. 
 
In addition, there will be a new Veterans Resource Fair at Cleveland Public Auditorium (500 Lakeside Ave.) from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., featuring 50 vendors that support the needs of veterans. Boxed lunches will be provided for the veterans in attendance and free flu and COVID-19 booster vaccines will also be available.  
 
The Veterans Resource Fair is presented by the City of Cleveland, Cleveland City Council, JVCOCC, USO, Cuyahoga County Veterans Service Commission, Greater Cleveland Food Bank, United Way, Northeast Ohio Foundation for Patriotism, RID ALL Green Partnership, Cleveland Cavaliers, the NAACP Cleveland Branch, American Red Cross and Northeast Ohio Homes.
